Jessica Anderson '10Jessie Anderson was a founding student of the 2005 inaugural class, receiving her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
As a pioneer, she established the UC Merced student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) where she brought students in Science and Engineering majors together for professional development including resume writing, interview training, student conference preparation & sponsorship, tutoring, outreach events, and more. Jessie was also the founding President and Captain of the UC Merced Women’s Basketball Club in 2008. Her dedication and talent led her to receive awards, such as Most Valuable Player, Coach’s Award, and Founder’s Award, acknowledging the foundation she established for Women’s Basketball at UC Merced. She spent her summers as an Engineering Intern with Siemens Building Technologies and Procter & Gamble.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, she moved back to work at a controls systems company as a Systems Engineer. In 2012, Anderson moved to Los Angeles to simultaneously work as a Mechanical Engineer and professionally as an Audio Engineer and Independent Recording Artist, eventually pursuing her passion for music full-time. In 2015, she came across an exciting opportunity at SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA where she is currently the Production and Engineering Manager of Falcon Stage Integration, as well as a Chair for the Out & Allied Employee Interest Group, Champion of the Outreach pillar in the SpaceX Production Diversity Council, and host for the SpaceX webcasts.
